Treasurers Report
Craig Osberg - Treasurer
The Board of Governors has been working with the NJ State Division of Taxation since the late fall to rule on the application of Sales and Use Tax to membership fees of Country Clubs. They have approved our Rate structure that includes taxable fees, that is Dues and non- taxable fees – Prepaid Greens Fees and Capital Assessment for specific 2008 Capital projects.
The result of this ruling will reduce Sales Tax by approximately 50% for the membership.
Catering
Doug Kehoe - Chair
The Board of Governors has contracted with a new caterer for the 2008 season,The Mountain Lakes Club.
After reviewing the feedback from members collected over the last few seasons it is clear that we needed higher quality menu items expertly prepared. Over the winter we worked with the Mountain Lakes Club to design menu items that will meet these expectations.
There are changes in the food service assessment process and billing procedures this year. The food assessment for the seven month season will be handled in a different manner.
First :The assessment is considered "seasonal". In this context the amount you have paid can be used at you discretion. Example: If a member's seasonal assessment is $350, the member can choose to use part or all of the assessment at any time. If part of the assessment is used in any month the member will be billed for that portion. Alternatively, members can choose to use all of the assessment in April, after that the member will be billed for the food that s/he purchases, plus sales tax and the tips that the member ads to the sales slip.
Second: There will be no cash transactions for food, including tips. Your daily purchase will be recorded on a sales slip. The slip will indicate the price of the food, the sales tax and a line for a tip. It will be the member's responsibility to enter a tip amount. If no amount is entered by the member a automatic 15 % will be added. The total of the purchase, tax and tip will be recorded and at the end of the month you will receive a bill showing the transactions and a total amount due. Tips and sales tax are NOT part of the assessment. Members are responsible for payment directly to the Mountain Lakes Club. MTCC will be advised of any members that are in arrears exceeding 30 days.
Third: Food service will begin on Saturday April 5. The hours of service are as follows.
Breakfast- Saturday, Sunday, Holidays -- 6am - 11am
Lunch - Tuesday thru Sunday, Holidays -- 11am - 3pm
Dinner -Designated Fridays -- 5pm - 9pm , Notices will be posted in the clubhouse and email reminders set to members.
Wednesday Member League play - May 28 - Sept 3, Food service will be available thru 8pm. A seperate menu has been designed for these evenings.

Membership Report

The 2008 membership recruiting is picking up right where we left off last winter. The committee was interviewing and recommending new members up until Christmas week. As always, we are honored to offer membership to your referrals, and welcome the opportunity to show off the best value in private golf in North Jersey.
The membership committee continues to consider appropriate and relevant membership benefits to enhance the value of your Mount Tabor membership. I hope that you have had the opportunity to take advantage of the Park Avenue Club. As you know, this award winning private dining club is a wonderful setting for business lunches and dinners. Your MTCC membership entitles you to reserve a table and just pay for the price of your meal. There are no additional dues required.
This year, we have added another extraordinary benefit to your membership by partnering with the historic Mountain Lakes Club. This exclusive club offers swimming, tennis, bowling, and dining in a comfortable atmosphere overlooking the still waters of Mountain Lake. Whether you drop in for a beer, burger and a ballgame, or reserve one of the private dining rooms for an event, the Mountain Lakes Club will welcome you as one of their own. MTCC members can opt in for a small fee and take advantage of this social club. E-Mail me for more information at membership@mounttaborcc.com.
